We make stocks, broths, sauces, and provisions the old-fashioned way: with real ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen. No shortcuts. No additives. Just food done properly, so it can do what food is meant to do — bring people together.
From sustainably caught seafood to slow-simmered broths, every product we make is crafted with integrity, respect for tradition, and a quiet kind of joy. We honour the past, cook for today, and always look to a more sustainable, delicious future.

Our Stock Era
Where it all began
The Stock Merchant began in 2010 with a simple mission: to create a truly a good base for the meals our founders Kate and Ben loved to cook. Not because the market needed it, but because they did. They wanted real flavour, real ingredients, and the kind of slow-simmered depth of flavour that only comes from doing things the traditional way. So they started making stock using free-range chicken, grass fed cattle, fresh vegetables, and time.
And so The Stock Merchant journey began.

Sustainable Sourcing
Supporting Aussie Farmers
Long before sustainability was a buzzword, we focussed on building our partnerships with farmers here in Australia who shared our values. Sourcing vegetables from local Victorian markets, beef bones from grass-fed, free range cattle from the pastures of Victoria and New South Wales, and chicken bones fom certified free-range farmers across Victoria. Our journey was fuelled by our passion for transparency and traceability, because everyone deserves to know where their food comes from.

Like the young family we were, we spent our early years growing and figuring things out. Our range naturally evolved into bone broths and then sauces (because the secret is in the sauce!), we continued to refine our flavours and humbly win awards (thanks delicious. mag). But most importantly our loyal community of home cooks, who shared our same passion for real food and brilliant flavour, continued to expand - allowing us to do what we began to realise, we just absolutely loved doing!

It's a tinned fish life
In 2022, we introduced a range of European tinned seafood, a natural extension of our belief that good food can be both convenient and deeply considered. We sourced MSC-Certified seafood fished from the Atlantic, packed with care and ancestral technique by our partners in Portugal and Italy. These products celebrate Europe’s rich food culture and deliver unmatched flavour and integrity in every tin.

And here we are today
We've just launched our latest (and dare we say greateat) innovation, Bone Broth Rices and we aren't stopping now. We’re so proud to work alongside nearly 2,000 Australian independent retailers and select Woolworths stores who have allowed our good fair to be so accessible to so many and to continue supporting sustainable food systems and producers. The way we eat really does shapes the world we live in. So we'll keep going where the good food is, because real food means something to us, and to you, the people we serve.

Our Concentrated Beef Bone Broth is halal certified.
However our liquid Beef Bone Broth is not halal certified.

Our tinned fish are in organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and our bone broth rices use MCT Coconut Oil
Our seafood has been certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) — an independent, international non-profit that sets standards for sustainable fishing.

We source from Europe to bring you the best in sustainable, high-quality seafood. Our range are preserved in certified organic extra virgin olive oil from Europe, using traditional Portuguese and Italian methods. Each tin is hand-filleted and packed, ensuring traceability, freshness, and respect for the craft of preserving.
