FAQs about our Tinned Fish
Our Sardines, Tuna and Anchovies have been certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) — an independent, international non-profit that sets standards for sustainable fishing.
Why do we use MSC certified seafood?
- You can be assured your seafood is from a sustainable source
- Ensures the seafood you enjoy today is available for future generations
- Prevents overfishing and the destruction of our oceans
- Keeps our oceans healthy, wild, and full of life
- Support fishers, fishing communities and jobs
- Prevent seafood fraud and know exactly where your seafood comes from.
All Alaskan salmon, unless it is tinned on the day it is fished, is filleted and snap frozen. This means it can be processed into tinned fish throughout the year. So once caught and snap frozen it is sent to be processed.
One of the things we like about MSC certification is that there is a fully audited "chain of custody" which means that we are certain that the wild fish we have sourced is from Alaskan waters.
We have sourced an excellent producer in Thailand who is able to pack our MSC Certified Wild Alaskan Salmon. They are highly reputable, hold all the top international food safety credentials and meet our stringent quality standards - we are very happy with them.
The fact the Salmon is packed in Thailand requires the label to state "made in Thailand", however the fish is Alaskan Salmon.
Our tinned fish, is known to get better with age and has a four year best before date from production on each can.
It sure is! All of our tins are proudly BPA free.
